Argyria

Etiology
  • Absorption or systemic poisoning of silver particles
  • Use of silver ion-based dressings in the treatment of chronic wounds or silver-containing antibiotic drugs, particularly in burns (silver sulfadiazine)
  • Certain professions: printers, photographers, jewelers
 
Clinical presentation
  • Diffuse hyperpigmentation of the skin, slate gray with metallic sheen, on exposed areas, particularly the face, nails, oral mucosa, nsaopharynx, eyes, liver, spleen, kidneys and digestive tract

  • Q-switch Nd Yag laser
