- Consumptive coagulopathy
- May be initiated by:
- Septicemic hypotension, hypoxemia, acidosis, malignancies, chemotherapy, OB crisis, antiphospholipid Abs, SLE and leukemia
- Children with large kaposiform Hemangioendothelioma and tufted hemangioma (Kasabach-Meritt syndrome) at increased risk
- Elevated PT/PTT, +D-Dimer, MAHA (shistocytes)
- Treatment
- Control of underlying disease
- Vitamin K,FFP, platelet transfusions
- Propranolol +/- corticosteroids
