Clinical presentation
  • Flesh colored dome-shaped papule
  • Centered by a small depression from which a tuft of hair emerges inconsistently
  • Cervicocephalic region, particularly on the nose
 
Dermoscopy
  • “Firework” appearance, where dark brown radial projections scatter from a central area without structure
 
Histology: characteristic
  • large central follicle in pseudocystic dilatation
  • Secondary or tertiary follicles form radially, more or less differentiated
  • Optionally equipped with a rudimentary sebaceous gland and retaining trichogenic activity
  • Lanugo hairs gather in the infundibulum of the main follicle and emerge from its ostium
