  • Within the first days of life
  • Associations:
    • Hypercalcemia of unknown etiology
    • Birth trauma, maternal cocaine or CCB use, hypothermia
  • Mechanism
    • Brown fat: higher saturated:unsaturated fat ratio
      • Favors hydrolase release after minor trauma
  • Placas e nódulos duros nas regiões malares, ombros, nádegas coxas e pernas
  • Good prognosis (compared to Sclerema)
    • Auto-limitado
    • Monitor for hypercalcemia for at least 6 months
  • Histology
    • Needle shaped clefts, radially arranged
    • Inflammation seen (not in Sclerema)
