Etiology
  • Iatrogenic
  • Cushing disease (pituitary adenoma producing ACTH)
  • Ectopic production
  • Adrenal hyperplasia
 
Clinical presentation
  • Skin
    • Abnormal distribution of fat: puffy moon facies, buffalo neck, filling of the supraclavicular hallows, prominent abdomen, contrasted with marked muscle wasting
    • Skin atrophy → revealing underlying vascular network
      • Actinic elastosis on histology, unrelated to sun damage
    • Purple stretach marks
    • Corticosteroid acne
    • Skin fungal infections → PV, dermatophytosis
  • Systemic
    • Ganho ponderar
    • Alteração do sono
    • Diabetes, alteração da glicerina
    • Úlceras pepticas
    • Osteoporose
    • Maior risco de infeção
