Cutaneous Metastases
- 0,7-9% of all patients with cancer
- In 22% of cases cutaneous metastases can lead to the diagnosis of an internal malignancy
- Most patients are older than 60 yo
- Usually asymptomatic shiny dome-shaped nodules
- In scalp may have alopecia - alopecia neoplastica
- New red to purple nodules in an adult should prompt suspicion of a metastases instead of a benign tumor
- Primary malignancies with cutaneous metastases
- Men: melanoma (32%)>SCC head and neck (16,5%)> Lung (12%) > Colorectal (11%)
- Women: melanoma (70%) > breast (12%)
- Men+Women: melanoma, breast, SCC of head and neck, colorectal, lung
- Locations
- Breast - Throracic
- Eyelid and nose if face affected
- Prostate - suprapubic region
- Renal cell - upper trunk > scalp > limbs
- Nails
- Fingers - lung
- Toes - genitourinary
