Tinea Barbae (not sycosis barbae)
- Etiologia
- Typically zoophilic: T. mentagrophytes var. T. verrucosum
- Atropophilic: T. rubrum
- Geophilic: N. gypseum
- Apresentação clínica
- Unilateral neck/face
- Types:
- Deep nodular suppurative
- Superficial crusted plaques with folliculitis
- May cause kerion also (like tinea capitis)
- Abscess caused by fungal infection
- Regional lymphadenopathy
- Fevers and malaise
- Dermatophytid reaction may be present
- Caused by immune resposnse to a dermatophyte infection
- DDx
- Foliculitis: in tinea there is alopecia (because fungus likes keratin in hair) and in folliculitis there is not)
- Tratamento
- O organismo pode ter penetração perifolicular por isso tem que ser tratamento oral
