Chronic inflammation of the lips, acquired, respoinsible for edema that can become permanent
  • Clinical presentiation
    • Intermitent episodes of often asymmetrical swelling of the lip
    • Then the hypertrophy becomes permanent, resulting in a “tapir lip”
  • Histology
    • Noncaseating epithelioid granulomas around the upper half of undisrupted hair follicle with lymphocytic infiltrates
  • Treatment
    • Symptomatic
    • Corticosteroids - intralesional, systemic
    • Clofazimine
    • No consensus on treatment
    • Reduction cheiloplasty
